Cyborg 009: Nemesis, an anime based on the iconic manga by Shōtarō Ishinomori, is set to debut on July 19, 2026, with three episodes. The series will be available on various streaming platforms in Japan, including Abema Premium, d Anime Store, U-NEXT, Anime Hōdai, Prime Video, DMM TV, and others. The story revolves around a global organization called Black Ghost, which aims to plunge the world into eternal war by capturing nine individuals and transforming them into cyborg soldiers. However, the cyborgs rebel and fight against Black Ghost, with the anime focusing on their journey. The main character, Joe Shimamura/Cyborg 009, is voiced by Yūki Kaji. The cast for the other 00 Cyborgs includes Yuu Hayashi, Kentarō Tone, Mitsuaki Kanuka, Hiroki Yasumoto, Tomokazu Sugita, Saori Hayami, Mamoru Miyano, and Junko Minagawa. Additionally, the anime's website revealed a new main cast member for the Nemesis group every week, including Yūichi Nakamura, Ayane Sakura, Maaya Uchida, Shion Wakayama, Tetsu Inada, Kikuko Inoue, Hiroshi Kamiya, Yoshimasa Hosoya, and Rina Hidaka. The anime's staff also announced that Kazuhiro Yamaji and Tōru Nara will voice Dr. Isaac Gilmore and Dr. Robert Golbert, respectively. Directed by Hideki Ambo at Arect, the anime features a screenplay by Atsuhiro Tomioka and CHARATEX, character design by sanorin, and a theme song performed by Kyōko from the rock band Barbee Boys, titled 'Taga Tame ni'. The original Cyborg 009 manga, launched in 1964, has inspired multiple anime series, films, and a crossover OVA with Devilman. The latest manga based on the series, 'Cyborg 009 Bgooparts Delete', ended in 2022, and a new manga titled 'Cyborg 009 Taiheiyō no Bōrei' was launched in 2024.
